Council "too close to call"? Come on! I heard these candidates all speak. Mr.Metz ran only due to personal requests from residents. (basically, to unseat the female candidate running for re-election) You didn't win. Leave Al working for the city. Clearly there was NO mandate from your supporters...just as you were NOT re-elected to the Republican Central committee in June and especially since (as I heard you claim) being the top vote-getter for school board in '08. the votes just didn't go your way. So long, this song is over. Thank you for the time you have served.

Hmmmm, the "fat lady" is still warming up and she says it looks like a fact check is in order:

Jamie - My facts are/were correct. Doug spoke to Coronado CRW after the '08 election where he received the most votes in '08 for CUSD. Thank you for confirming my point. He did get the most votes. Only 2 yrs later was he unable to be re-elected to the Republican central committee of SD during the '10 Calif. primaries and now he's #3 in the city council election. Hard to see what facts I got wrong. BTW...This is coming from a skinny lady!

I stand corrected, my apologies. I didn't follow the train of the sentence mixing the two (apparently unrelated) events. CUSD and City Council are still non-partisan elections, non?

Also, to avoid any further confusion the "fat lady" above is in reference to "It ain't over till the 'fat lady' sings". And this certainly ain't over . . . till it's over. ;-)

Jamie -- I see that you discovered what I already knew. That Doug's boasting about being the board member with the most votes (ever) for CUSD was as he stated and I reiterated. Thanks for proving that point. "(This year) the votes just didn't go his way". I appreciate your verification of the points which he and I made as being factual. so, hmmmmm, what is that 'fat lady' singing now?

A republican central committee member and State waterways board member (voted/appointed positions specifically due to this persons Republican registration) can no more be non-partisan than a union serving fireman whose association endorses only democrats can be non-partisan. ALL candidates endorsed in '08 by Coronado Firefighters union were registered Democrats that year. Not sure how you define non-partisan but that year it was pretty clearly anything other than non-partisan.
