Coronado's Wizard of Oz Weekend Postponed

RE: Coronado’s Wizard of Oz Weekend (WOW!)

The Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) Committee has announced the postponement of their much-anticipated Wizard of Oz Weekend (WOW!), originally set for March 7-9 in Coronado.

It was to be the first of a planned two-year series of film-related fundraisers for the future Coronado Island Film Festival, with its inaugural year targeted for Fall 2015. The decision came after March scheduling conflicts began to jeopardize the three days of Oz-related events.

Doug St. Denis, CIFF Committee chair, says, “We’re disappointed, but we wanted to do it right, so we decided it was best to wait. We’re full steam ahead already to make Coronado’s Wizard of Oz Weekend (WOW!) an even bigger and better event!

Details and dates will be announced as they become firm. There’s a ‘movie surprise’ in the works too, which will be great fun, so stay tuned.” For information contact dstdenis@san.rr.com.

Here is what the weekend was going to be:

Mar. 7-10
Wizard of Oz Weekend
The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission presents an island-wide celebration of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum who wrote several Oz books in Coronado.
Festivities include:

Complimentary advance screening of Disney's new film, Oz The Great & Powerful on March 7 at Coronado's Village Theatre.
Book signing and wine reception with children's author Roger S. Baum, great-grandson of L. Frank Baum, on March 8 at the Coronado Public Library.
"Wizard's Breakfast" on March 9 in the front yard of the historic house (1101 Star Park Circle) where Baum wrote Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, The Emerald City of Oz , The Road to Ozand parts of The Marvelous Land of Oz.
