Coronado School of the Art's Prospective Shows For The 2012-2013 Season

Everyone loves a good musical, everybody loves a great play. This year at the Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) we had such musicals as "The Wedding Singer", and "Throughly Modern Millie" with the water filled play "Metamorphoses" squeezed in the middle.

Each show turned out fantastic in their own ways. My jaw literally dropped several times as I watched "Throughly Modern Millie", which was the only show I wasn't in this year school year. I personally can't wait for next year's shows, especially knowing what shows we're going to be doing. That's right, CoSA's Musical Theatre students voted on the new shows and now I'm revealing what we're hoping to do next year.

Drum roll, please?

The musicals we are going to hopefully obtain the rights to are "Into The Woods", a (somewhat dark) fairytale musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and "Singing In The Rain", the stage adaptation of the wonderful movie with Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. Didn't know "Singing In The Rain" was a stage musical? You know now!

The play we are going to hopefully obtain the rights to is "Grapes of Wrath", which is that famous classical novel by Steinbeck. It was also made into an opera, but I think CoSA will stick with straight plays for now.

Those are the musicals and straight play for next year. I hope you can come out and see them, because if this year was any indication next year is going to be even more fantastic!
