Coronado School of the Arts presents "Zombie Prom" Zombies Have Feelings Too
What do zombies wear to prom? Find out at Coronado School of the Arts’ (CoSA) production of "Zombie Prom,"October 16, 17, 22, 23 at 7 pm and October 18 at 2 pm, at Coronado High Performing Arts Center, 650 D Avenue Coronado. Over 30 talented performers from around the county take to the stage in this campy, fun-for-all musical. It’s a perfect segue into the fall when pumpkins, ghosts and zombies make an annual appearance.
"Zombie Prom" presents a new twist on teen romance during the atomic fifties. When Good girl Toffee breaks up with bad-boy Jonny, he throws himself into a nearby nuclear reactor and returns as a zombie – just in time for prom. Altered, but still in love, Jonny hopes to win back the girl of his dreams. "Zombie Prom" spoofs familiar 50’s musicals with similar themes and entertains with toe-tapping music and rousing dance numbers along the way.
The cast of Zombie Prom come from all over San Diego to attend Coronado School of the Arts which offers in-depth, conservatory style training in the performing and visual arts. These actors take theatre seriously. Many are familiar faces from the community theater scene around San Diego. Despite their young years, the cast of Zombie Prom are seasoned actors. As with every CoSA production, equally expert students trained in Technical Theatre run the lighting, sound, set changes and other behind-the-scenes responsibilities that make the magic of a theatrical experience possible. "Zombie Prom" opens the CoSA performance season which includes instrumental, theatrical, dance and visual art events with something for every cultural palate.
