DOTTIE MARTIN HONORED BY
SD COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The June 20th meeting of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors adjourned early in memory of Coronado's Dottie Martin, a resident who donated her time and energy to many organizations in the region. She passed away May 12th at the age of 83.
Dottie was a member of American MENSA, Coronado Christ Episcopal Church, past director of Friends of Jung Center and former president of its San Diego chapter. She was active as a volunteer at the Coronado Public Library and Coronado Hospital for many years and also volunteered at the Church of Christ Thrift Shop.
Greg Cox, Vice Chairman of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, surprised the family of Dottie Martin with the adjournment. In doing so, he cited her many "significant contributions to the community," said Cox in a letter to her husband Captain Richard Martin, USN (Ret).
With the letter came a proclamation signed by each of the members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
"We're all very surprised," said Dick Martin, "but grateful, and honored that the County Board of Supervisors, and in particular Vice Chairman Cox, took time to remember and honor Dottie in this way. It means an awful lot to our entire family. I know she would have loved all this attention."
