Coronado Police were out this weekend alerting local businesses about counterfeit $100 bills. They were urging business owners be very cautious and consider not accepting bills over $20.

Yes..a police officer walked into our store Sunday morning with the warning, for which I was very grateful! I had also heard there were a lot of counterfeit $50's. The officer suggested we make it a store policy to not accept large bills..something I guess we will have to consider.

Or you can get a machine for less than $200 like we did at Downtown Ace Hardware that does a great job of checking bills. We haven't accepted a counterfeit in the year we have had the machine. Accubanker D500. $199. www.accubanker.com Harry Schwartz, owner - Downtown Ace Hardware
