Announces Open House at New Crown Preschool 

CUSD is proud to announce the opening of Crown Preschool, a new opportunity for the children of Coronado.  Crown Preschool will be hosting an Open House on March 11, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  In consideration of working parents, evening hours for the Open House will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Crown Preschool is located at the Early Childhood Development Center at 199 Sixth Street, the former location of Crown Elementary School.

The Open House on March 11 will give parents a chance to see the new Crown Preschool facility and meet the staff.  Parents will also receive information about the curriculum based on the California Preschool Foundations and Common Core State Standards.  As a part of the award-winning Coronado Unified School District (CUSD), Crown Preschool offers a curriculum that integrates with existing CUSD K-12 curricula and combines it with innovative learning designed to enhance cognitive development and establish the basic building blocks for a successful education for 21^st century learners.  Information and registration forms about Crown Preschool’s summer program and the 2013-14 school year programs will be available at the Open House.

Crown Preschool will follow the CUSD academic calendar (not yet posted). There will be only one classroom with a maximum of 24 students for an adult to student ratio of 1:12. During the school year, all programs will be five days a week. Crown Preschool will offer half-day programs on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Additionally, there will be an extended day program from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The District’s before and after school child care programs are also available to children attending the preschool program.  The before school program begins each day at 6:30 a.m. and the after school program concludes at 6:00 p.m.
