First Coronado Resident Lawn Bowling Club Members Join the Super Shots Club

Coronado residents, Bill Killingsworth and Carol Gillard,  (click names for picture) and their “Skip,” Robin Olson, became the first CLBC Members since the opening of the new green to become members of the United States Lawn Bowling Association’s Super Shots Club during a Triples Game on the Coronado Green.  Super Shot Certificates, Bowls Stickers, and Pins are awarded to teams that score either seven or eight points on an end in a pairs or fours game or seven, eight or nine points in a triples game played under USLBA or its affiliated organizational rules.   Bill, Carol and Robin scored a seven-point end against their opponents.  During normal play, teams generally score from one to three or possibly four points.  Occasionally a team will score five or six points.  But, it is very rare for a team to score seven, eight or nine points; rare enough that this was a first in over a year since the dedication of the new Coronado Green in March, 2010.

Hi bowlers, I'm Robin from Bristol in England and I also play bowls. We have something similar to your Super Shot we call it a Hot Shot but you have to score 8 shots in a game of fours to qualify for which you get a certificate and a badge with Hot Shot on it. Our season has finished now and lots of bowlers play indoor bowls during the winter, I play short mat a different game altogether I don't know if you play it in the US would be interested to know. Happy bowling Robin

Hi Robin,

We also get a certificate and a pin but we can score 7, 8, or 9 on any end in any game.  I have been reading about short mat but have only seen it in Canada.  I am not really sure if there is any of it in the US.  If you are visiting, stop by Saturday am at 9 and we will include you in our game!
