Harbor Police Blotter: August 12-18, 2009

The Harbor Police Department issued 100 citations during the week. Several citations were issues for traffic violations, including illegal turns, not wearing a seat belt and expired registrations. One driver was cited for driving the wrong way and the citation also noted the driver didn’t have a driver’s license. One driver was cited for talking on a cell phone while driving, several people were cited for possession of having less than one ounce of marijuana. One driver was cited for having drug paraphernalia. One person had a loaded .45 caliber magazine. A pedi cab operator was cited for illegally soliciting and one citation was issued to a person who illegally parked a bike. Officers made 21arrests. Two people were taken into custody because they were considered a danger to themselves. Other arrests included driving under the influence, drinking and being drunk in public, illegally storing a vehicle, outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance without a subscription, boating under the influence and outstanding warrants. The department’s K-9 team responded to eight calls, including searching vehicles for explosives and in at least one search, the dog had positive results. Dogs also searched buildings for explosives, one sniffed both the interior and exterior of a vessel with negative results and the team conducted a search of a VIP motorcade and hotel room with negative results.
