Help! Any suggestions for professionals in getting rid of fleas in garden?

Anyone else with flea infestation in their garden in Coronado?   We have been trying to deal with fleas in our garden for two weeks now.   It seems that it was brought over by a stray cat who loves to hang out on our lawn and lay in our bushes where there is shade.  We tried treating the infestation with with liquid spray and with granules that we read about online and do it yourself info.  It seems to lessen the fleas for awhile but it comes back with a vengeance.  We are flea bitten all over our legs and just plain uncomfortable. Does anyone have the same problem and what did you do?  We finally called Terminix today to help us with the problem but they will not be able to get out fast enough for us.  Please post if you have a suggested professional you have used with good results.  Thanks so much in advance.

Since no one has responded to this Nancy, I am going to offer you a fix that works in the house.  It should apply outside, I would think.  Euclyptus branches.  Inside I put them under the couch and furniture and it permiates the carpet and fleas go away (I have a dog).  I would think if you put branches along your rows it would do the same?  I hope you get some relief soon.  The humidity is leaving us so that should help too.

Make sure to vacuum everywhere at least every other day.  If they've gotten in your house, they'll hatch out there, so the vacuuming keeps sucking up the eggs and errant larva and fleas.  Make sure that your dog has flea control as well, because the dog will bring them in the house.  Just one flea on a dog means that there are a lot more everywhere else.

It is a bad bad year for fleas across the country, especially, it seems, in Coronado.

I also had *great* luck putting out a few shallow plastic containers of water with white or yellow napkins at the bottom and setting them around outside and in the house.  The fleas are attracted to the brightness, and will jump in and drown.

You could use a permethryn or pyrethrin spray-- some can be used both in and outside.  Cedar oil also acts as a deterrent, although I didn't notice it helping much when we had our really bad infestation a month ago.

I have heard that eucalyptus oil works on flea infestation

inside a home, so the first poster's advice might just work.

Thanks so much for all the info, eCoronado Friends!
We did have Terminix come and treat our entire lot - including the City sidewalk surrounding our property! But, we will be using the organic treatment you all shared w/us in our home.  We think we might have brought it in even though we don't have a pet there. Have a wonderful end of Summer and a great Fall in our beautiful City....
