HELP! Village Elementary School Garden Needs Some TLC, ASAP--- Volunteer Hours Available for CHS Students

Please help clean out the ten raised garden beds at Village Elementary before school starts August 23, 2012!

The garden at Village Elementary is extremely overgrown and needs some help immediately.  The goal is to have the ten, 4x8 raised beds cleaned out before school starts August 23, 2012.  Anyone willing to help needs to do the following:

--Gather items you think you may need like garden gloves, wheelbarrow, shovel, trash bags, etc.

--Bring your gardening items with you and enter the school through the office off 6th Street and check in with staff at the front desk.

--Work can be done Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

--Students can earn volunteer hours for the time they work.

The raised beds need to be cleaned and dead and dying foliage removed.  No dirt or plants will be added at this time.

If you have questions, contact Angel Butcher, 619-787-9297.

Tomatoes, strawberries and other over grown plants need to be removed before school starts.  The beds will be replanted with organic soil and used during the year by students at the school.
