The Coronado Animal Care Facility is currently full to its capacity with dogs and cats. We are desperately seeking foster homes in Coronado, if you are able to foster a cat or a dog until its permanent adoption please contact pawsofcoronado.org
The population of orphaned cats and dogs is at an all time high right now and the ACF is over crowded and may not be able to accept animals. This could mean that if your cat or dog gets lost & is turned into the ACF they will be sent to San Diego and placed into the county shelter system.
We believe that Fitz is a terrier/dachshund blend. He is about 4 years old and weighs 17 lbs. Fitz is a quiet, mellow fellow. He was a little uneasy when he first arrived at the ACF, but with the TLC he has received from the caregivers and dog walkers, we can see his sweet temperament emerging. He likes people and is easy to walk on a leash, peacefully enjoying his stroll. Fitz will quietly explore the dog yard, but always comes back to you to touch base. With his easy going personality, he would do well with most any family.
Stevie Wonder is a 5 year old terrier mix weighing 13.5 pounds. When Stevie Wonder arrived at the ACF, he was missing one eye and had a cataract in the other. Despite being nearly blind, he is one happy-go-lucky guy. He loves people, thoroughly enjoys his walks and is good with other dogs. Stevie Wonder adapts quickly to his surroundings and hasn't missed a beat since arriving at the ACF. He would do best in a home with older children and a family who's heart is big enough to see that his limited vision does not limit his ability to love and be a loyal companion. You can meet Stevie Wonder at the ACF daily between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm (except holidays).
Lucky is a one year old male pit terrier mix. He is a great big puppy weighing in at 62 lbs. With his weight and build he is a very strong dog. Lucky is currently working with a trainer to teach him leash manners. Lucky’s personality suits his name as he is a happy go lucky, high energy guy. He needs structure and consistency and would do best with adults or older children due to his size and strength. Having a safe place for him to run and play would be ideal. Someone who is familiar with the breed and understands the need for physical and mental exercise is just what Lucky is looking for.
Cassie is a female puppy of Pit Bull Terrier variety, about 25 pounds in size. Born in April 2012, she’s still young and filled with that playful existence that makes puppies special. She’s been lucky enough to live with a foster family since she came to the Coronado Animal Care Facility, a stray about eight – ten weeks old upon arrival. Cassie has proven to enjoy the company of the resident Great Dane and two cats who live in the foster family’s home. This little girl is a snuggle bunny, so if you like the idea of having a dog who will curl up to you while you sleep, she’s your girl. Cassie’s got that upbeat personality, one that brings people together on her walks; everybody wants to meet her and share in her enthusiasm for life. Opening your heart and home to this budding little personality will allow her to serve her purpose of spreading good times and goodwill, with you being the most important recipient.
