After catching up on local news on ecoronado, I feel compelled to share a recent example of why I love living in Coronado.
I live on Pomona at the roundabout. My next door neighbor, a young man in SEALs training, was parking one evening when he noticed a Sheltie dog staggering into the intersection. He quickly scooped it up thinking it may have been hit by a car. A couple of teenaged girls were walking by and offered to help. They knew our house because they are classmates with my son. They knocked on our door to see if I knew the owner of the dog. Since I didn't recognize it, we decided to call the police station.
While waiting for a police officer, we bundled the dog in one of my old beach towels, soothing it because it was whimpering, and I got to know my neighbor a little bit. The police officer arrived, called in the pet license number and we waited together to see if the owner could be located. When that didn't seem to be happening, the police officer said he would take the dog to an animal hospital. We gently laid the dog on the floor of the police car and the officer said he would return the towel to me later. I said to donate it to the shelter!
I went back inside my house and 5 minutes later, my neighbor was back at my front door with my towel. The dog's owner had been located. It turns out the dog was 17 years old, was blind and deaf, and had hip problems. That's why she was staggering and whimpering. So it was a happy ending for all!

Great story, thanks for sharing! I recently stopped my car on 3rd and helped reunite a large Great Dane with it's owner. With two much loved dogs myself I always hope someone else would do the same for them!
