Looking for mystery bike rider from Sunday evening occurance at Vons

Last evening, Sunday, Oct.30, at about 5pm I was driving out of the parking lot and a white female riding a black bike ran into my car. I was driving a steel gray Mercedes. This woman and the bike fell to the ground. She had apologized when she realized the accident was her fault. I looked at my car and saw a small scratch on the trim. I did not want to cause any further distress to this woman. After determining she was alright, although clearly shooken up we both left. When I returned home and checked the car one more time, I was very upset to find that the rear brake light had been cracked. I can only guess that the sunlight hit the red plastic enough that I did not see it earlier. I drove back to Vons to see if I spotted the biker but she was gone. There were several witnesses in the parking lot and on the sidewalk. I am hoping that she will read this or someone that knows her will idenify her. I only want to exchange insurance information to take care of the brake light. We both tried to do the right thing but this is one of those extenuating circumstances. I can be reached at : jenyesq@aol.com.

try getting out of your gas hog of a car..there is not a place in this town you can't get to in ten minute or less on a bike then you will see what it is like to share the road with cars !

Did you ever stop to think you might have been equally to blame? If not totally. And that the girl on the bike might not have wanted to drag out an already unpleasant situation, no doubt in pain from the fall. Did you also stop to think, that when she got home and checked her bike and her body, she might have suffered more damage than your measly cracked brake light? Gimme a break. Or should I say give yourself and that poor girl and her possibly damaged bike a break.

Chalk it up to life and not paying close attention when driving. Were you talking on your cell phone?  Give up a few lattes and buy a brake light .. or put a little cement glue on the crack. And if the light is still burning, leave the crack alone and consider it a battle scar. Worry about something important. People are being massacred in countries where our men and women in the military are trying to help maintain our freedom so you can drive that piece of metal. Many people have neither a car or a bike nor food to eat every day in this very country, the good old USA, and you're worried about a piece of cracked plastic. Gimme a break!

I ride my bike around town and drive my car around and through town..  I pay close attention in both circumstances.  I have almost been hit by a bike rider who is not paying attention.. who does not follow the rules of the road (as they are supposed to).. meaning they don't stop at intersections to make sure it is clear before they head out..  Or they are riding on a sidewalk, etc.   If the bike rider ran into the back end of the car - it sounds like this was the bike riders fault (unless the driver of the car was backing up)..   Getting nasty about any of it serves no purpose.. Everyone needs to look out for everyone else.  This town is chalk full of bikers, runners, walkers, skateboarders, etc or all ages..  Both parties need to be looking out for themselves and for others.

Everyone needs to just drop it. Sorry for your car being damaged BUT, it is easy to fix.
