SAN DIEGO — California Highway Patrol officers shot and killed a 54-year-old man threatening to jump from the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge early Sunday after he appeared to be pulling a gun from his pocket, San Diego police said.

The officers arrived to see the man pacing the westbound lanes, Herbert said. He said as the officers negotiated with the man, he told them he had a gun and threatened to shoot them if they tried to stop him.
