Mayor's Movie of the Month Program at the Village Theatre

I have been working with Lance Alspaugh of our very own Village Theatre and I am excited to announce a "Mayor's Movie of the Month" Program beginning this September!

In honor of the United States Navy's Centennial of Naval Aviation, the inaugural film being featured as part of this program will be "Top Gun" on Thursday evening at 7PM on September 22nd. General Admission will be $5 and will allow you to relive the experience with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment! At 4PM on Thursday, September 22nd, there will be a classic car procession down Orange Avenue to showcase the cars participating in the classic car races called "Speedfest" that same weekend on-base at NAS North Island. Now, you will be able to enjoy a lead-up to Speedfest at 4PM followed by a special showing of Top Gun later that evening at 7PM!

Future movies in this series will be "Wall Street" and "Ghostbusters" in October, "Bridge Over the River Kwai" in November, and a matinee showing of "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve.

We also need to show the classic movies at times that won't create contractual conflicts with the new movies that the theater is required to run in accordance with their contract with the City's Community Development Agency. Amanda, tickets for Top Gun should be available at the Box Office starting today :-)

I was so pleased to see this program start off on such a strong note. When I know the show times for Wall Street, I will share it here :-)

Very much the local party atmosphere you don't see at the mall movie theaters. The screen was great and the sound system was more than capable of handling a movie well known for its soundtrack and jets flying in afterburner.

NOTE TO FUTURE MOVIE GOERS: as the mayor pointed out this was a sellout. If you want to see the Mayor's Movieof the Month, buy tickets early! We saw more than one person walk up and get turned away disappointed. ..and no, I do not get a percentage of ticket sales.
