Yesterday afternoon, NASNI police officers detained a community resident reportedly to be a retired senior Naval Officer, in front of his home on the 100 black of F Avenue. Neighbors reported that the man was forcibly taken to the ground by the NASNI officers. After calls were made to the Coronado PD, 3-4 units were dispatched to the scene at which time city officers appeared to join in the mayhem.
A question of jurisdiction: Do NASNI Officers have the authority to make a forcible detention on our city streets without the CPD present? Was the level of physical force justified? The man was subsequently taken in an ambulance wearing a neck brace .

Comment by Madison W. on August 17, 2012 at 11:22am As of now, I would think we need the actual story because the base security and DOD police do not carry Tasers. The man in question is a former Navy SEAL.
Comment by Jeanette C Aguilar on August 20, 2012 at 9:00am It could of been handled differently.
