NOISE ALERT: Navy exercise might attract attention

SAN DIEGO – Naval Base San Diego is participating in an anti-terrorism and force protection exercise Aug. 28 - 29.

The Navy will use realistic simulations and special effects to add to the authenticity of the training experience for first responders. This will involve noise and activity on and near the base’s piers on San Diego Bay. Residents and workers near Naval Base San Diego and across San Diego Bay in Coronado or the Silver Strand might see or hear unusual or surprising activity both days between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This exercise, Citadel Protect, tests and assesses the Navy’s capability to protect ships from various potential threats in ports at home and overseas.

For more information about the Citadel Protect exercise, contact Brian O’Rourke at Navy Region Southwest, (619) 532-4717.
