Why did you choose Coronado and this location on Orange Avenue?

Tomi and I have frequently come over to enjoy the many shops and restaurants that Coronado and Orange Ave have to offer. When our lease was ending downtown we knew that we wanted try and come over to Coronado because we enjoyed the community and knew that we had something different and unique to bring over. There isn’t anything like us on the island and we believed that the Coronado community would appreciate our efforts to remain an American Artisans only gallery and that we were a family owned. When we first saw our space on Orange Ave we knew that it was the right space for us and everything fell in to place like it was just meant to be! Tomi and I are looking forward to being a positive part of the community for many years to come.

Will the building be split in half or will the gallery reside in the entire space that used to be a pharmacy?

The owners decided to split the space prior to us viewing the space. Having it split was ideal for us and another reason we chose our space. It is now 916 Orange Ave. and 918 Orange Ave. Shorelines is located on the 918 Orange Ave. side.

When did it open?

Shorelines was located in downtown San Diego for 5 years at 411 Market Street (Corner of 4th and Market). We decided about 7 months ago that once our lease was up we wanted to go over the bridge to beautiful Coronado and close the gallery in downtown San Diego. We re-opened our doors on Orange Ave on July 21stand are very excited and feel very fortunate to be in Coronado.

Describe Shorelines Gallery.  What products are you offering?  Any services?

Shorelines is an “American Artisans Gallery”, meaning we only carry and sell American hand crafted art, nothing is mass produced overseas and most is one-of-a-kind or limited edition pieces. We have jewelry, metal art, glass art, wood furniture by STICKS Object Art. We are also, very different from a traditional fine art gallery. We do not typically carry flat wall art or paintings. Most of our wall art is dimensional and mixed media work. We also, have a very extensive jewelry collection featuring all types of styles, metals and stones. We have over 80 artists from all over the United States that create each piece and we are so grateful for their support and the incredible pieces they bring to us. Our artists really “make” our gallery what it is!

What are some of the most popular items that people purchase?

Our jewelry and glass collections are very popular! Jewelry starts around $20.00 and glass starts around $40.00 so we have something for everyone and our collections are always changing. Some our most popular items right now are the Houston Llew Spiritiles, Kathleen Mitchell glass art, Barbisan Designs Jewelry and our STICKS lazy susans & mirrors.

What are some items that a local wouldn't want to miss?

As I said, Shorelines has something for everyone. Whether you are shopping for a gift for your best friend, your babysitter, a business associate, a wedding gift or even just yourself you will always find something American made, unique, and beautiful! We value our local clientele and support our military. Tomi and I cannot wait for everyone to experience what we have to offer and look forward to seeing everyone around the gallery.

Shorelines is planning on having a grand opening in September or early October so be sure to check their website for details www.slsdgallery.com
