New Restaurant in the Cays--the Calypso Cafe!

The Calypso Cafe, which used to be just a little kiosk outside the offices near the Coronado Cays Yacht Club has expanded into a full-fledged cafe. They serve an interesting assortment of choices you won't find in most places (lots of organic choices) and do breakfasts and lunches. We stumbled upon the change a while back and when we stopped in to check on progress yesterday morning the owner was awaiting her final inspection from the Health Department to officially start serving. The actual Grand Opening will be sometime around the 17th-18th, but here's a shot of the menu, (plus daily specials, like shrimp enchiladas! Yum!).

The Crew from Truck 37 at the Cays Station tried the lunch today. VERY good food and reasonably priced! We ordered ours to go so we couldn't stay to enjoy the view. It's great to have a source for quick, convenient breakfast and lunch in the Cays. I watched the chef stirring a large pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove and then he brought out a sheet of what I thought were muffins. I watched him drop them in the pot and realized they were meatballs the size of BASEBALLS! That was today's Special: spaghetti and meatballs or meatball sandwich! I wasn't quick enough to snap a picture for proof, but seriously, they were at least the size of baseballs! ;-)

The owners were our neighbors in Bonita and we both packed up our households and moved to Coronado at the same time several years ago. Am so happy to see that they have expanded and will definitely be giving it a visit.

I am so happy that you are about to open up your cafe! You did such a fantastic job on my daughter Regina's wedding reception last August at the Cay's old Yacht Club! I wish you all the best! Looking forward to coming by for lunch soon....

So happy to have this in the Cays. Food is great and they have two boat slips for boat dining. A perfect lunch spot or sunset dinner when you are out on the water. Congrats Calypso Cafe.
