Park Life Real Estate makes a difference as part of The Amazing Race for Children's Wishes

Park Life Real Estate owners Scott Grimes and Renee Wilson and their staff believe that community involvement is part of the way business should be done.  “Park Life values the importance of giving back to the community in which we work and live,” says Mary Ann Kelly of Park Life.

This year the staff will again take part in “The Amazing Race for Children’s Wishes” Saturday, April 20 to benefit Make-A-Wish San Diego. According to the Make-A-Wish website, they have, since their founding in 1983, “granted the wishes of over 3,000 children facing life-threatening medical conditions.” The gifts received from individuals, organization and corporate partners, make it “possible for a child facing long hours of medical treatment to experience the hope, strength, and joy that is the power of a wish come true!”

The Amazing Race for Children’s Wishes began in 2009 when the Coronado Yacht Club, Navy Yacht Club of San Diego and Coronado Cays Yacht Club collaborated to create an event “where families can come together to experience the magic of making wishes come true.”

According to the event web site, Make 3 Wishes, the money raised has increased each year and the efforts to date have provided well over 20 wishes.  The goal this year is to raise $100,000.  There are already 18 teams signed up to raise funds.  Each team is asked to raise a minimum of $2,500 and all proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish San Diego.

Last year the Park Life Real Estate team raised a total of $12,500.  Their success afforded them a rare opportunity to not only help the Make-A-Wish in general, but raise money in honor of Manny's wish.

“Manny was diagnosed with a serious heart condition at a young age.  Hospital visits have become part of Manny’s regular routine.  “He has always been the strong one in the family," said Manny’s mom, “he doesn’t let his condition get him down, he just accepts it.”

Since Manny is a huge soccer fan, his wish was to visit the FC Barcelona Nou Camp Stadium.  He also has family in Spain he had never met.

Park Life seeks to raise awareness for Make-A-Wish on a local level.  Coronado is a very generous community and a local connection helps people relate to a cause in a more personal way.

If you are looking for a great way to give back to the community and have fun while doing it, check out the 5th annual Amazing Race for Children’s Wishes.  The amazing race starts at 11 a.m. when teams will embark on their bikes and travel around Coronado facing various challenges.  At 3 p.m. there is a BBQ and live entertainment at the Coronado Yacht Club.  This is a day of philanthropy, food and fun!
