Does anyone know the official procedure for dropping off a package at the Post Office for which I've pre-paid shipping online and affixed the label so it's good to go? I've done it with their Flat Rate boxes during non-Christmas time of year and I sneak to the counter and interrupt to say "Do I just leave this here? It's ready to go", to which they always reply "Yes, just set it down".
Now I have a large box that's pre-paid and labeled, and I know the line will be long for Christmas shipping, so I get shy and anxious cutting to the front, but I'm pretty sure that I don't need to wait in line for anything. Suggestions??

Comment by Dani Schwartz on December 17, 2012 at 7:21pm Thanks! I guess I also feel bad having my mail carrier pick up my big box(es) while he's on his route. I did go to the P.O. today, around 11:30 (big line then too), 'cut' past the line, went right to the counter and showed the woman the box, and she took it from me while she was helping another customer. When I walked out I really wanted to tell some of the people in line with their boxes with marker-written addresses on them that they could pay online, print their labels and not have to wait. Merry Christmas!
