If you haven’t noticed the big sign on the window and flurry of activity where Calikites use to be, Coronado will be getting a new addition at 961 Orange Avenue. Pretty Please Fashion will be arriving on the island with a splash of color this March.

The concept of a local, neighborhood boutique was created from the ground up by Shelly Van Der Linden. Five years ago, she opened up her first Pretty Please Fashion store in Del Mar and hasn’t stopped since. In this short time, the owner has managed to open eight beautiful and successful shops in southern California and Arizona.

Shelly wants her boutiques to reflect her vivacious personality; trendy stores that offer a wide range of styles, from fashion forward to traditional, with conservative prices. Shelly personally selects the clothes for her stores with seasonal hues and bright colors in mind—the racks are color coordinated. Her goal is to present costumers affordable, chic clothes in a fun, upbeat environment to shop with girlfriends, mothers and daughters.

The Pretty Please Fashion store won’t be just another boutique in Coronado, but plans to be part of the community as well. Local organizations, charities and schools will be able to team up with the fashionable shop for fundraisers and other philanthropic events.

Additionally, groups will be welcomed to organize Lady’s Night Out when the shop can be closed for a private shopping experience.

I stopped by the Pretty Please Fashion store located in Hillcrest, San Diego and interviewed Barbra Horwitz, the Community Outreach Manager for the company. She gave me a tour of the store and showed me some items that will also be sold at the Coronado location.  “The store will feature merchandize for women ages 15 to 70+ such as day clothes, bathing suits, yoga pants and evening attire,” Miss Horwitz said. 

The one-stop-shop will offer stylish brands such as Michael Star, Lush, Jack, and BB Dakota among many others.
