The Islander Sports Foundation began a new tradition last year, a raising of the banners event. This year, on September 9th 2013, our 2nd Annual salute to Coronado High School athletics will take place at CHS.
In coordination with CHS ASB, the Foundation hosts a Salute to Champions event in the High School quad, followed by a banner ceremony in the Blumenthal Gym. The quad event will feature a BBQ with students, teachers and coaches for $5 starting at 6PM, followed by the gym ceremony at 7PM.
All the team sports and individual athletes will in some fashion be recognized for athletic and academic achievements, actual CIF Champion banners will be raised in Blumenthal Gym for Boys Soccer and Boys Golf. The Boys Golf Championship was the first in 49 years, the Boys Soccer Championship was its third in a row! School records were broken last year in swimming, track these will also be recognized. Salute to the Champions is an Islander Sports Foundation sponsored event to build school pride and recognize the many great Islander athletes competing today that add the rich 100 year history of Islander athletics. In the quad at CHS the 100 Year Islander Icons of athletics honored at the 1st Annual Islander Invitational Golf Tournament on July 3rd will be on display, open to the public.
Join us in saluting the Islanders and build the heritage and pride of Islander sports.
