Free Screening of the AWARD-WINNING Film, SEROTONIN RISING Starring His Holiness The DALAI LAMA, DEEPAK CHOPRA and DONOVAN plus a Musical Performance by ROXY KING at The Coronado Library
Coronado, CA - A new film produced and directed by Coronado resident, TONY PERRI, will have a free screening at the CORONADO LIBRARY on Friday, March 16th at 7:00 PM in the Winn Room.
SEROTONIN RISING stars the spiritual leader, His Holiness the DALAI LAMA; local spiritualist, author and medical doctor, DEEPAK CHOPRA; 1960’s icon, DONOVAN and Dr. JORDON GRAFMAN, the Chief Scientist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
This unique movie seamlessly weaves together documentary interviews with a dramatic story line about two TV reporters who reveal the scientific truth that doing good deeds for others will raise your body’s feel-good chemicals and strengthen your immune system.
The documentary/feature film also highlights medical discoveries on how the recipient of a kind act also feels a rise in their serotonin levels - and if there are any observers of the good deed - their feel-good chemicals also increase and their immune system gets a bit stronger.
SEROTONIN RISING sold-out its World Premiere at the 2011 VAIL FILM FESTIVAL - receiving rave reviews along the way and winning top honors with the prestigious, “Audience Choice Award” at the 2011 ESTES PARK FILM FESTIVAL.
Mr. Perri will be on hand to answer questions post-screening and will be joined by Poway resident, 16-year-old ROXY KING, who acts and sings her original songs in SEROTONIN RISING. Roxy is also one of the stars of the hit music video, SAN DIEGO DOGS, which will have its big screen debut as a preview to the feature film. Roxy will sing a few tunes before and after the screening.
SAN DIEGO DOGS is approaching 200,000 YouTube views and was filmed entirely on Coronado. It also stars YouTube teen sensation and San Diego resident, Lia Marie Johnson. The video’s musical message is clear: “Adopt your next dog from an animal shelter.” Proceeds from the iTunes release go to the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Also making its big screen debut on this night is Lia’s other Coronado-based music video, WHITE FLAG, which is closing in fast on 1-MILLION YouTube views. Both videos showcase gorgeous scenes from throughout Coronado and of the San Diego skyline.
