Union Tribune Requires Facebook Account to Post Comments - Bans Anonymous Users

I definitely think this was a good call by the UT.  The quality of the discourse has improved, even if quantity has fallen.  Before, any comment of substance was lost in the vitriolic shock comments.  I was often blown away by what people would write under the cloak of anonymity.   E-coronado has a different audience and user, so I'm not sure it's the right call for this site.  But if this site ever did become a forum for hate speech, bullying or generally used by those who want to kidnap substance for purely shock value, then it should be considered.
