RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CORONADO, CALIFORNIA
TO PROCLAIM MILITARY MUSIC OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
AS THE OFFICIAL MUSIC OF CORONADO, CALIFORNIA
DULY PASSED ON:

WHEREAS: the United States Military has been a major resident of Coronado,California
WHEREAS: United States Naval and Marine forces will celebrate in February 2011, 100 years of residency in Coronado, California
WHEREAS: The residents and tourists of the City of Coronado , California are privileged to have two military installations, Naval Amphibious Base and Naval Air Station, North Island.
WHEREAS: By protocol, tradition, heritage and military culture, martial music is observed twice daily, referred to as “Morning Colors” (8:00) and” Evening colors” (as determined by sunset)
WHEREAS: Upon hearing this martial music, all military personnel, momentarily cease their activities and face the music reflecting upon their sworn duty to God and Country.
WHEREAS: This time honored music provides a very unique experience and observation for residents and tourists
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The City Council of Coronado, California declare that martial music provided by the United States Naval and Marine Forces located on Coronado, be adopted as the official music of Coronado.
