Has he been honorable, has he been transparent, has he reached out to people????? Doug Metz says in his e-Coronado interview that you should ask yourself if he has done these things before voting for him. My observation of this candidate leads me to think otherwise as referenced by the following:> HONESTY...INTEGRITY...TRUST> > Character matters, otherwise words and promises mean nothing. Doug Metz is the only candidate running against incumbents Barbara Denny and Al Ovrom yet offers no reason to unseat either one of them. His published campaign statement illuminates history of his accomplishments one of which was President of Coronado Cays Homeowner Association. He doesn’t mention that he resigned or why so here are some facts that may interest you before you make your decision to mark your ballot. > > August 2003 Metz was elected director of Port Royale Village for a 2 yr. term and elected President. As director he failed to hold a nominating meeting 3 weeks prior to next election August 10, 2005 as required in by-laws (page 8 Sec.3) and was the only one on the ballot running for election. His opponent had to run as a write in candidate. On August 10, 2005 at the Annual HOA Meeting Metz was declared winner after giving himself 13 unassigned proxie votes. Election results were Metz 29 votes and his opponent 37 votes. When questioned about impropriety of his actions Metz resigned. Another election was held and in April 2006 Metz’s opponent, after winning for the second time, was finally seated on the Board. > > Metz’s campaign letter to homeowners dated July 25, 05 states he wanted to be reelected “to work with colleagues to complete several pending tasks that preserve and add value to your investment” Among the four items he mentioned was to explore development of Grande Caribe Isle North, a prime vacant waterfront property located near the HOA Offices. Could it be that he wants to be in a position of influence when this matter comes before the city council? > > Prior to the Annual Meeting on August 5, 2005 without notifying the homeowners or conducting meetings to obtain homeowners support the CCHOA Board of Directors passed a resolution to DELETE section 90.10.100 (page 14) of the Coronado Cays Specific Plan Zoning Ordinance removing building restrictions and allowing for major expansions affecting approximately 400 out of 1200 single family homes in four Cays Villages (Port Royale, Bahama, Trinidad and Jamaica). Metz signed the resolution and forwarded it to the city for approval. Coronado Planning Commissioners approved the request after being advised by HOA representatives that Cays homeowners were in favor of it (Planning Commission Minutes Sept. 27, 2005). When some homeowners got wind of what was going on they circulated a petition objecting to the change and it was then withdrawn. > > A world of experience and background history is worthless without HONESTY, INTEGRITY AND TRUST------------

This small package of dynamite has awakened Coronado residents by insisting on transparency
whereby citizens obtained the knowledge they needed to participate in the operation of their city. Barbara has demonstrated her ability to lead and deserves to keep her seat on the city council.
She has diminished the "us against them" attitude between elected city representatives and prefers
an enjoined relationship with the public. Her energy is boundless holding monthly meetings to get
public input. Her quiet civil manner is not to be misunderstood regarding her capability to get things done. She maintains good relationships with the many agencies the city is obligated to deal with.
It was a lucky day for Coronado when she stepped forward to work for the people with no hidden agenda. If you are looking for Integrity, Honesty and Trust you will want to vote for Barbara.

Ella--You have been repeated advised that the procedures then applicable and followed in the election of Village directors in the Cays were validated by the Cays General Counsel and General Manager. Since my tenure as President, I have been honored and privileged to have the enthusiastic support of every President who succeeded me, namely. Messrs.Orfila, Harrigan , Landersman, and Herring.
