We remember watching the 1999 4th of July Navy SEAL demonstration and being blown away by the beach explosions, SEALs firing their weapons (blanks), helicopter water retrievals and the roar of the crowds. Below are two videos that do a great capturing these moments. They stopped the demonstrations in 2000 and are not planning any in the immediate future.
Here is an image grab from the first movie below that shows the explosion on the beach. You could actually feel the heat from the fire if you were seated near the Coronado Golf Course - it was an amazing demonstration of power and precision.

Comment by Anne Sels on October 2, 2011 at 10:14am I remember that too Deanna - back then they would do a high altitude jump ... there was a SEAL wearing a monster of the lagoon type mask in the water and I think he would try to get to them before they were rescued.
