Where there's smoke, there's fire: Coronado Firehouse Bar & Grill is coming!

Update: The restaurant is now open...visit their website here.

Opening July 30, 2010 - Coronado Firehouse Bar & Grill (located at 126 Orange Ave).

Coronado is getting a new restaurant this summer and eCoronado.com got a sneak peek last week. Jim Biafore is the owner of Chance Bistro (located at 926 Orange Ave) and will be opening his second restaurant this summer: Coronado Firehouse Bar & Grill (located at 126 Orange Ave). The new restaurant will serve reasonably priced American bistro dishes, have a full bar, outdoor patio, host live entertainment, offer a banquet room, display 15+ flat panel TVs and welcome all types of patrons (including families).

The name 'Firehouse' was chosen since Coronado's original firehouse operated out of the same location back in 1893. Jim explained that the restaurant will have firehouse and fire elements including roll-up doors, historical fire photos, red brick columns, smoke-inspired colors and 3-alarm dishes.

Fire-red bricks will cover the inner columns and add to the decor of 'Firehouse'.

Many Coronado locals will remember fondly that Mexican Village operated out of the same space for many years. Jim expects that 'Firehouse' will help to re-energize lower Orange and entice more folks to that part of the 'neighborhood'. From what I've seen, I have no doubt that will happen very quickly.

Here is a view of the main dining area - note the 'flame' colors and the original beams and skylight.

I was very impressed with the quality of the work, the creativity of the design and the 'firehouse story' that Jim is creating throughout the building. In addition to the restaurant, there will also be 5+ offices located on the second floor and available for lease.

More details will be revealed soon, so stay tuned and get fired up to extinguish (sorry, couldn't resist) your appetite at the Coronado Firehouse Bar & Grill this summer.
