Woman leads police on chase, jumps off Coronado bridge

The apparently suicidal woman survived the jump and was taken to the hospital by Harbor police. An apparently suicidal woman standing on the Coronado Bridge led officers on a chase Thursday that ended back on the span, where she got out of her car and leaped into the San Diego Bay, but survived the fall. The woman was reported standing on the bridge shortly after 10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. When police tried to contact her, she drove into Coronado, then doubled back and got back onto the bridge, crossed into San Diego and entered northbound Interstate 5, said CHP Officer Ray Scheidnes. The woman got off the freeway near Sea World, then headed south on the freeway. Back in Barrio Logan, she got onto the Coronado Bridge once more, got out of her car and jumped over the edge, Scheidnes said. Harbor police officers soon located the woman and pulled her out near J Street Pier, and medics took her to a hospital. Source: SDNN.
