Youth Soccer News: Coronado Soccer 2011 Review

For Coronado Youth Soccer League (CYSL) and the Nado Select competitive program, 2011 was a year of many successes. The recreational league placed 400 players on 36 teams, with six of those teams going on to play in area All-Star tournaments, including theCoronado Holiday Cup. On the competitive side, several teams led their Presidio League divisions and other made respectable showings over tough seasons. To top it all off, the organization provided a free certification program for its recreational coaches, enabling those who completed the course to qualify for a Cal South coaching license.

The successes began with the U8 teams and moved up the line. At the youngest age, all three U8 teams reached the upper levels of play, with the BU8 and GU8 White finishing in second place in their division and the GU8 Green finishing as Presidio League champions by one point over their club mates. At the beginning of the season the U8 coaches felt that they had enough girls for two competitive teams, and they were right on the money. All together the three teams lost only 5 out of 38 total matches.
