The "Neil Diamond Experience - Diamonds are Forever" cover band rocked Spreckels Park in Coronado last night with some amazing tunes. Coronado Concert in the Park is a 40 year old tradition where folks bring food, drink and friends (in that order) to enjoy great music in the middle of Coronado, CA. I was there, toward the back of the audience, near Orange Avenue, and I, along with a handful of other people, thought that it wasn't that great. We could not hear him singing a couple of times, and when we could, the sound was not loud enough.
I felt like he was giving the concert for the front half of the crowd.
When Rockola performed there, the whole park was rockin'.
I had been looking forward to this concert, and I found myself to be a little disappointed.
If the sound system had been better, the concert might have been better for those of us in the
back.

Not fair to blame the band for the lack of enough sound in the audience! Coronado controls and provides the sound support. Hope next year the mistakes can be fixed - as I and some other band members were deaf after the concert and my ears rang for 3 days after as the last half of the concert the stage sound got so loud and distorted it was just a mess and I felt like my ears were bleeding. To my dismay and surprise there was but ONE monitor mix for everyone onstage - unheard of and very inefficent - When I would move into the audience with my cordless mic to sing to the fringe areas not the front half - I could not hear myself or the band - just like you said - and would have to return to the hot spot to be able to hear enough to sing and follow the band!
Definitely needs to be fixed next year - reports I had is we rocked the audience as good or better than Rockola - so I am good with that!

I remember this band as being one of the BEST concerts last summer! I eagerly await the delightful music of my youth!  JOIN US at the PARK.
