Event Description

EXHIBIT EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 30!

We invite you and your children to visit the Dr. Seuss traveling art exhibit on The Del’s Windsor Lawn, April 25 – June 30. The exhibit features 5’-8’ bronze sculptures that celebrate Dr. Seuss’ (Theodor Geisel) most recognizable characters and the lessons they continue to impart to children around the world.

The Lorax, one of the first environmentally conscious characters ever created, continues to inspire new generations of children to accept personal and societal responsibility for the conservation of our natural resources. Those viewing the sculpture have the opportunity to make a pledge to “go green” in their own personal way. The Grinch, Geisel's “alter ego,” offers the wonderful message that “…it’s not how you start out that counts. It’s what you are at the finish.” Yertle the Turtle, a cautionary tale about democracy and “doing the right thing,” is as useful a teaching tool today as it was when penned over 50 years ago. Green Eggs and Ham, the fourth best-selling English language children’s book of all time, was born out of a $50 wager that Geisel couldn’t write an entertaining book using only 50 words. And, the classic The Cat in the Hat, the defining book of Geisel’s career, changed the way that generations of children learned to read.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
